Teaching and learning health in hybrid skills labs
The University of Lübeck has a clear focus on medicine and health alongside life sciences and computer science. In the area of online teaching, it is well positioned in terms of training cognitive competencies. This is to be extended to action competencies in the project: The university skills labs for medicine and health are to be prepared for hybrid teaching by uniformly upgrading them with hardware and software. This will make it possible to implement a variety of hybrid teaching-learning scenarios in which students can build up their competencies in both guided and self-directed ways to a greater extent than is currently the case.
The project can build on extensive university preparatory work at both the technical and didactic levels. Health is not only a central research and teaching topic at the university, the physical and mental health of students in the learning process has been actively promoted for a long time. However, the digital transformation of teaching poses new threats to, but also new opportunities for, health promotion. In the project, existing approaches to classroom teaching will be transferred to digital and hybrid teaching-learning environments and their effectiveness systematically investigated. Therefore, the existing skills labs at the University of Lübeck are to be technically and organizationally upgraded. The goal is to provide both teachers and students with a uniform infrastructure that opens up a variety of new didactic possibilities and that can be uniformly trained, maintained and further developed.
COPICOH is involved in the project with several member institutions and will be responsible for setting up and operating the skills labs over the next few years.
The foundation "Innovation in der Hochschullehre" is supporting this project with around 1.8 million €.
